Timber Ridge Catering Recognized as December Member of the Month

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce proudly announces Timber Ridge Catering, owned by Don and Tera Nuttle, as the December Member of the Month. This prestigious recognition highlights the dedication, resilience, and outstanding contributions of Timber Ridge Catering to the local community.

Located at Timber Ridge Golf Course, 2330 E 250 N in Bluffton, Timber Ridge Catering has emerged as a thriving business under the leadership of Don and Tera Nuttle. The Chamber’s staff and Ambassadors surprised the Nuttles with this well-deserved honor, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to excellence.

Tera Nuttle, owner of Timber Ridge Catering, reflected on the challenges faced in the early days of taking over the business. “It was definitely a challenge in the beginning when we took over the catering and business. We had to start from scratch booking events. We quit our day jobs to run the business, and it has been a roller coaster ride along the way.”

The journey began with Tera and Don Nuttle’s venture into food meal preparation through their fitness business, Flex Fitness. Starting small, the couple witnessed significant growth as word spread about their quality offerings. The decision to explore the catering opportunity at Timber Ridge Golf Course proved pivotal, leading to the eventual takeover of catering operations.

“On July 1, 2019, it was ours, and we had zero events on the books. We thought to ourselves, what did we just do? I had already quit my job, and Don was still working another job and running the gym at that time. Don decided to quit his job after working 20 years for another company, and then Covid hit. We are so glad we took a chance and tried,” shared Tera Nuttle.

Despite facing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Timber Ridge Catering persevered. The Nuttles utilized the time during the pandemic to enhance the venue, making it more spacious and versatile. The venue has evolved into a turnkey venue, accommodating up to 300 people, offering comprehensive services including DJ services, a full-service bar, ceremony, and reception packages, set up and tear down, in-house centerpieces, linens, a full-service menu, and even officiant services. The venue is now equipped to host weddings, class reunions, corporate Christmas dinners, graduation parties, and various other events.

Tera Nuttle, drawing from years of experience in the food industry, emphasized the natural progression of Timber Ridge Catering’s services. “I have had a lot of experience cooking for large numbers of people, so this is pretty natural to me.”

New additions to their services include offsite full-service weddings, complete with decorating, set up, DJ services, and food services. Don Nuttle is expanding their offerings to include photography services, further establishing Timber Ridge Catering as an all-inclusive one-stop shop for event needs.

Tera Nuttle expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “This honor is certainly very surreal to me. We are still learning and growing and trying to figure things out. It’s very humbling.”
