The Wells County Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for KOA Bluffton to celebrate new ownership, new management, and a variety of exciting improvements and enhancements at the campground.
Located at 1625 West Lancaster Street in Bluffton, KOA Bluffton has undergone several upgrades designed to enhance the camping experience for guests while also creating new opportunities for community members to enjoy the facility year-round.
One of the most noticeable improvements is the complete remodel of the campground's camp store. The newly renovated store now offers an expanded selection of gifts, camping essentials, necessities, and locally inspired merchandise, including custom Bluffton Historic District apparel and Bison-themed items.
"We want our campers to be able to find everything they need right here," said Park Manager, Bailey Curry. "Whether it's camping supplies, souvenirs, snacks, or apparel, we've worked hard to create a welcoming store experience for both campers and visitors."
The campground's KOA Café has also become a popular gathering spot, offering pizza, freshly popped popcorn, slushies, nachos, chicken tenders, and a variety of other food options for guests and visitors.
Additional improvements include the installation of 14 new full-hookup campsites featuring sewer, water, and 30/50-amp electrical service. With these additions, all 108 campsites within the campground now offer full hookups, allowing KOA Bluffton to accommodate campers comfortably throughout the year.
Families visiting the campground can enjoy a variety of amenities and activities, including a newly constructed gem mining sleuth where children can sift through water and sand in search of gemstones. The campground also features a heated swimming pool that was freshly painted this winter. Day passes for the pool can be purchased Monday - Thursdays. Activities Day Passes are on Saturday.
KOA Bluffton offers a full calendar of events throughout the year, many of which are open to the public. Summer activities include movie nights for adults and children, live music performances, rodeos, holiday celebrations, and themed weekends. Upcoming events include a Fourth of July Bash and the campground's popular Bigfoot Weekend over Labor Day, where guests can participate in a community-wide Bigfoot hunt.
In addition to traditional campsites, KOA Bluffton now offers a fully furnished cabin available for rent. The cabin features heating and air conditioning, a refrigerator, microwave, television, full-size bed, two sets of bunk beds, a porch swing, and a private fire pit, making it an ideal option for families seeking a unique getaway experience.
The campground also offers a pavilion with a camping kitchen available for public rental, making it a convenient venue for family gatherings, celebrations, and community events. Additional amenities include a canine park for four-legged visitors. There are plans for future expansion, including additional campsites and a stocked fishing pond.
One feature that sets KOA Bluffton apart is its ability to remain open year-round. Thanks to specialized infrastructure, including heat-taped water lines and sewer systems installed below the frost line, the campground can operate 365 days a year, making it the only campground in the area open throughout all seasons.
"Our community is welcome here," Curry shared. "Whether you're camping, attending one of our events, renting the pavilion, enjoying the pool, or simply stopping by to see what's happening, we welcome everyone to come out and experience what KOA Bluffton has to offer."
