The Wells County Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated with a ribbon-cutting for Wildflower Coffee Co., a new mobile coffee truck owned by Emma Massey. Built around a love for coffee, community, and connection, Wildflower Coffee Co. is bringing freshly brewed coffee and a welcoming smile to communities throughout the area.
Wildflower Coffee Co. began with a simple love for coffee shared between Emma and her sister, Maelyn Frauhiger. As busy moms with young children, the sisters found themselves seeking out drive-through coffee shops wherever they traveled, enjoying the opportunity to try new drinks without having to load everyone out of the car. "We just had a love for coffee," Emma shared. "We would travel wherever there was a drive-through because we had little kids and didn't want to get out with all of them. We would just try new coffee places all the time, and one day we were like, 'Let's try to make our own.'
With encouragement from Emma's husband, Mike, and plenty of experimenting at home, the idea of creating their own mobile coffee business began to take shape. What started as a dream shared between two sisters has now become a reality, with the Wildflower Coffee Co. truck officially hitting the road about a month ago.
The journey has been a true family effort. Emma’s husband encouraged her throughout the process, and her dad took on the unique role of roasting the beans used by Wildflower Coffee Co. By serving its own roasted beans, the business adds a personal touch to every cup. “It has been such a fun adventure to serve the community, meet new people, and love on people,” Emma said. “That’s been our mission: to bloom where you’re planted.”
The mobile nature of Wildflower Coffee Co. allows Emma to bring the business directly to different communities and events. The truck can frequently be found near the Quilt Shop north of Bluffton and at locations near Walmart, where customers can grab a coffee while running errands. The truck has also made stops in Adams County, Ossian, and Berne, with plans to continue traveling throughout the area.
Wildflower Coffee Co. also partners with local organizations and events, including open houses, community events, and other community gatherings. The ability to travel and meet people throughout the area is one of the things Emma enjoys most about operating a mobile business. "I think the fun is being able to be mobile and be in different parts of the community," Emma shared.
While the coffee truck is still in its early stages, Emma is already seeing the potential for what Wildflower Coffee Co. could become. For now, her focus is on growing the business, spending time with her family, and continuing to build relationships throughout the community. While a brick-and-mortar location wasn't originally part of the plan, customers have already started asking about the possibility.
"I always said when we started the truck that we would never think about a brick-and-mortar," Emma said. "But the more that we're in the truck, the more people ask about it. It may be something in the future, but right now, we're just running the truck and living life with all of our children who want to help out."
What customers can expect when they visit Wildflower Coffee Co. goes beyond a good cup of coffee. Emma hopes each interaction leaves people feeling seen, encouraged, and cared for. "A smile, joy, asking how they are," Emma said when describing what customers can expect. "We're like, we care. We want to know how people are. We want to share love with people. Whether you're going through whatever you're going through, we want to be there for them."
Wildflower Coffee Co. is built around the belief that no matter where life plants you, you can grow something beautiful. With its motto, "Bloom where you're planted," Emma hopes the business will continue to grow one cup, one conversation, and one community connection at a time.
