Crimson House Café Recognized as October Chamber Member of the Month: Serving Community, One Cup at a Time

Member of the Month, Crimson House

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors recently surprised Crimson House Café in Ossian with the October Member of the Month recognition. The café has become a beloved local gathering place, and the Chamber is proud to highlight owner Catrina Wells and her team for their dedication to the community and commitment to providing a welcoming, high-quality experience for all guests.

Catrina Wells has been leading Crimson House Café for nearly three years, building upon the strong foundation laid by previous owners Jeff and Heidi Reed. Since taking over, Wells has added her own creative touches while expanding the café’s offerings, cultivating a vibrant and engaging space for patrons. When surprised with the recognition, Wells said, “I am speechless. I don’t even know what to say. I’m literally stunned, but I’m so grateful. I have loved the last three years of being here. I love this place, I love the community, and we have so many great supporters. This just feels really special.”
Under her leadership, the café has grown in both reputation and scope. Wells has leveraged social media to engage with the community, posting fun videos and updates that have helped connect the café with a wider audience and attract new customers. In addition, she has expanded the pastry selection, taking on the role of pastry chef herself and introducing new baked goods that have quickly become customer favorites. While she acknowledges the guidance and foundation provided by previous owners, Wells has personalized the café in ways that reflect her own vision and creativity, creating a unique and inviting experience for all who visit.

Business at Crimson House Café has continued to grow steadily, with Wells now managing a staff of approximately ten employees, not all of whom are on shift at the same time. As the busy holiday season approaches, the team is preparing to expand services and ensure that all guests continue to enjoy timely, friendly service. “We’re so busy, and I’m so grateful,” Wells said. “We’ve had amazing growth and may even add a few more team members for the holidays. My long-term goal would be to open on Mondays again, but for now we’re keeping things steady, maintaining balance, and having fun.”

Looking ahead, Crimson House Café has several exciting events planned, including pop-up markets featuring local vendors and festive holiday décor throughout the season. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community, the café remains a favorite destination for both locals and visitors. Guests can always expect friendly service, quality food, and a cozy place to gather, whether for a casual breakfast, a midday lunch, or a special treat from the pastry case.

Crimson House Café is located at 304 N. Jefferson Street in Ossian and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The café serves breakfast and lunch all day, with a menu that includes sandwiches, soups, salads, specialty coffee and tea drinks, seasonal offerings, and an assortment of freshly baked pastries, muffins, quiches, and desserts.

Pictured holding the recognition sign are Catrina Wells, owner and operator of Crimson House Café, and her husband, Andrew Wells.
