Bluffton, IN - The Wells County Chamber of Commerce joined River Terrace Retirement Community to celebrate a major remodel and expansion of their facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony and community tours. Guests enjoyed appetizers prepared by River Terrace’s in-house chef and had the opportunity to see the newly renovated spaces firsthand.

The project transformed part of the assisted living area into a 37-bed rehabilitation wing, featuring 18 rooms—five private and the remainder companion suites. Each suite is designed for privacy with full walls and private bathrooms. The remodel also added 19 new skilled memory care beds, including eight private rooms, in a secure unit.

“Our goal is to be able to help our community create a new rehabilitation wing to be used as part of our assisted living,” Mallory Zehr, Administrator, shared. “These rooms are set up so that it’s not just a curtain between you and the other person. There’s a wall and there’s a door. You don’t have to go to a shower room to take a shower—you can take a shower in-suite.”

The new design also allows therapists to provide in-suite rehabilitation services, offering privacy and flexibility while still utilizing the rehabilitation gym. A second phase of the project will triple the size of the rehab gym, further expanding services.

“This is a community asset, where you’re looking outside and it’s not a highway or a parking lot. Here you have the grass and the woods and the trees, and it’s pretty,” Anita Correll, Marketing Director, noted. “It’s going to be someplace where people can actually rehabilitate the way you’re supposed to.”

River Terrace is a continuing care retirement community, offering a range of senior living options on one campus—from independent to assisted living—allowing residents to maintain independence while receiving the level of care needed as they age in place.

The Wells County Chamber of Commerce congratulates River Terrace Retirement Community on this exciting milestone and their continued investment in the Bluffton community.
