The Wells County Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassadors are pleased to recognize Collier’s Comfort Services Inc., located at 215 North Jefferson, in Ossian, as the July Member of the Month. This honor celebrates the company’s long-standing commitment to customer service, innovation, and developing young talent within the skilled trades. Known throughout northeast Indiana for their quality HVAC and geothermal work, Collier’s Comfort continues to set the bar for professionalism and hometown values.

Collier’s Comfort began like many small businesses do: with a big dream and a lot of hard work. In 1996, founder Todd Zeplin opened his doors in Ossian with a clear philosophy—do quality work at prices customers can afford. Backed by extensive field experience and a strong technical background from his time at WaterFurnace, Zeplin built his business on trust, customer satisfaction, and high standards. "We’ve always focused on quality work and honest service," Zeplin said. “Our customers trust us to deliver comfort, reliability, and energy efficiency—and that’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

You may have known the company as Collier’s Heating & Air Conditioning when it operated in both Ossian and Warsaw. In 2017, following the retirement of a longtime business partner, the company restructured and rebranded to Collier’s Comfort Services. Since then, they have experienced steady growth, expanding their team and services while staying true to their founding values. “Our core principles—hard work, quality service, and good value—are the reason we’ve been successful for nearly three decades,” said Zeplin.

Today, Collier’s Comfort employs over 20 people and serves clients across Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Their work spans residential and commercial projects, offering everything from traditional HVAC service to cutting-edge geothermal systems. The company is NATE-certified, holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, has earned national recognition from WaterFurnace for its sales and service excellence, and is proud to be a Lennox Premier Dealer—a distinction awarded only to dealers who meet Lennox’s highest standards for customer satisfaction, training, and performance.

But beyond the technical expertise, Zeplin takes pride in the company’s role in workforce development—particularly through the Work Based Learning program, formerly known as ICE (Interdisciplinary Cooperative Education). Many of Collier’s best technicians started as high school students and grew into dependable leaders on the team. “It’s incredibly rewarding to train someone from the ground up and see them succeed,” Zeplin said. “Some of my most reliable guys came through that program, and we’re proud to keep investing in young talent.”

The company’s customer-first approach sets them apart. In addition to standard service, Collier’s Comfort offers 24/7 emergency support and goes the extra mile—whether it’s providing temporary space heaters or helping families find accommodations during repairs. “We don’t rest until our customers are satisfied,” said Zeplin. “Doing the right thing, even when it’s not easy, is just part of who we are.” That mindset has earned them a loyal customer base and driven long-term growth fueled almost entirely by referrals.

The Wells County Chamber commends Zeplin and the entire Collier’s Comfort team for their consistent dedication to quality service, community engagement, and workforce development. Their success story is one of perseverance, passion, and people-first leadership.
